How Automated Patching Works

An overview of how Triumphant automatically patches and updates your devices using Action1.

How Automated Patching Works

Triumphant uses Action1 to automatically keep your devices patched and up to date. Most of this happens quietly in the background — here's what's going on and what to expect.

Non-Intrusive Patching

Most updates run through scripts designed to execute during non-intrusive work hours, so they stay out of your way during the day.

  • Routine, non-critical updates are triggered at the end of the day on Fridays.
  • If your device is offline when a scheduled update tries to run, it will retrigger automatically the next time you log in.

Reboot Prompts

Some updates require a restart to fully apply. If you see a pop-up requesting a reboot:

  • Please restart sooner rather than later. Delaying can leave a device partially patched or hold up other scheduled updates.
  • Save your work first, then go ahead and restart when it's convenient — ideally the same day the prompt appears.

Critical & Security Updates

Some patches are more urgent and may run outside the usual non-intrusive schedule. This typically happens when:

  • A critical vulnerability is identified by our internal security measures, or
  • A third-party security source flags an urgent issue that needs to be addressed quickly

These updates are prioritized because the risk of waiting outweighs the temporary interruption, so they may be more noticeable or time-sensitive than routine patching.

What You Should Do

  • Keep an eye out for reboot prompts and restart promptly when you see one.
  • Leave your device powered on and connected to the internet when possible, especially around end-of-day Friday, so scheduled updates can complete.
  • If a patch seems to be causing a problem, submit a ticket rather than trying to undo it yourself.
